FINE CLASSICAL REVIVAL CARVED MAHOGANY ROCKING CHAIR, IN THE MANNER OF R. J. HORNER, NEW YORK. Circa 1900. The laminated curved panel back with applied scrolling leaftips, vinery, and shell-carved crest, joined to a molded splat, the stiles surmounted by carved lion’s heads, joined to the downswept molded arms with scrolled grips, centering the shaped saddle seat, the side rails scalloped, the legs incurved, joined to rockers. SIZE: 34-1/2″ h. x 23-1/2″ overall w. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Overall very nice, professionally restored and refinished. Shrinkage crack on seam of seat, easily restored. 9-93487 (1,500-2,000)
