HORNER LIBRARY TABLE. Last quarter 19th century. This labeled example with rectangular top and incise-carved edge above the conforming bombe frieze fitted with a pair of aligned short drawers and opposing sham drawers, all carved with scrolling leaftips, centering scrolled scallop shell handles. The trestle base formed by carved lions decorated with ‘S’ scrolled leaftips joined to a flattened leaf-carved medial stretcher, the whole raised on claw feet. SIZE: 29-1/2″ h. x 54″ l. x 34″ d. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Professionally refinished with medium brown mahogany color. Very fine overall, with no restoration noted. One small chip to a leaftip. Label affixed to one drawer bottom. 9-93480 (5,000-8,000)
