RARE SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1841 CADET MUSKET. Cal. 58. NSN. Smooth bore. 40” rnd bbl. Eagle over “US” is on lockplate in front of hammer. “SPRING / FIELD / 1844” is stamped vertically at rear of lockplate. This musket was designed specifically for issue at West Point, and only 450 were made. CONDITION: Heavy brown patina overall, with moderate to heavy pitting. A large chip missing at the toe of the stock and water damage at the heel. Other dents and scratches. Trumpet ramrod has the correct threading but extends beyond end of bbl.
