LOUIS-CLAUDE MALBRANCHE (French, 1790-1838) RING AROUND THE ROSY. Oil on canvas winter scene shows eight young girls playing ring around the rosy with one in the center and seven forming a ring. A dog is seated and looks on and a woman carrying a tall bucket walks toward them. They are seen in an inner courtyard, which opens out to view a house with fence and trees. Various barrels and brooms are seen resting up against the barn like structure. Signed lower right “Malbranche”. Housed in a period gilt gesso decorated frame. SIGHT SIZE: 9-1/4” x 12-1/4”.
