*WINCHESTER ASSEMBLED 1897 TRENCH GUN.

*WINCHESTER ASSEMBLED 1897 TRENCH GUN. Cal 12 ga. SN 518516. Usual configuration, solid frame with 20” cylinder bbl, blued perforated steel handguard with bayonet lug and sling swivels. The left side of the receiver has a large flaming bomb and the left side of the bbl is stamped “US Property”. The buttstock is highly figured with “GHD” cartouche on the left side and has a Winchester logo black hard rubber buttplate. It has the small round ribbed forearm. This appears to be a riot gun that has been converted to a trench gun. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl and magazine tube retain about 90% original blue, thin on the magazine tube. Handguard retains 95-97% strong bright original blue. Receiver retains 35-40% thin original blue with the balance silver brown patina. Wood is sound with the buttstock having been cleaned and retains about 20% original varnish. Forearm is dark and retains traces of original finish. Bright shiny bore with scattered light pitting. 4-49731 JR209 (800-1,200)
