*VERNEY-CARRON SIDELOCK DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal 12ga. Fine French shotgun with 27-5/8” bbls, choked, FULL/MOD with tapered swamped rib with single silver bead, double lump, double bite with rib extension for 3rd bite. Coin finish with about 70% coverage, extremely fine floral and arabesque pattern engraving. Fences are deep relief engraved with oak leaf and acorn patterns. Top lever, tang and trigger guard are matching engraved with about 1/4” engraving extending up over the breech end of the bbls. Ejectors and double triggers, the front articulated. Wood is very fine pattern French walnut with full checkered splinter forearm, straight stock 14 5/8” over a checkered butt. Company name is on the left sidelock with St. Etienne on the right side. Cocking levers are gold plated. Accompanied by a fine oak and chocolate-brown leather trunk case with maroon felt lining. SN 2541. Weight 7.25 lbs. CONDITION: Extremely fine, possibly unfired. Bbls retain 98-99% strong original blue. Receiver and trigger guard about all of their original fine coin finish. Wood is sound and retains about all of its high gloss original finish with a series of small bruises in the finish near the toe and a couple of other handling marks. Bright shiny bores.
