50¢ MILLS “ROMAN FRONT” SLOT MACHINE. In the 1930s Mills created a handful of decorative theme-like machines, such as the “Lion Front”, “War Eagle”, “Horsehead Bonus”, “Castlefront”, and this particular machine, the “Roman Front”. The front castings depict a Roman figure, perhaps mythical, and goddesses standing next to columns dispensing wine and coins from their urns. Truly an attractive machine and brightly enameled, once again to captivate the prospective player’s attention. Another added feature that is encompassed in this particular machine is the “Gold Award”. If one were able to get the “Gold Award” symbol on the first, second and third reel, a golden coin would be dispensed which then could be turned in to the owner/operator for a certain amount of money. This machine has been restored and is a great collector’s item. Machine comes with a finely crafted oak stand with polished aluminum legs and owl adorning front door. SIZE: 16″ w x 16″ d x 23″ h. CONDITION: Back door and rear bonnet appear to be replacements. Lacking key and mechanism not visually inspected, machine currently jammed. 1-8709 JL (1,250-1,750)
