18” SOLID DOME GERMAN BISQUE SHOULDER HEAD WITH CLOSE MOUTH DOLL. Incised “9” on the back of the shoulder, this doll features a gusseted leather body with bisque forearms. Appropriately redressed in a two piece lavender taffeta costume with white lace and black velvet piping, antique undergarments and leather ankle length boots marked “MADE IN GERMANY.” Wig is auburn mohair, elaborately curled and pinned up in an 1890’s hairstyle, topped by a replacement pink straw hat decorated by feathers, ribbons, and cloth flowers. CONDITION: Good quality bisque, one small kiln dust spot, right glass eye has small fracture. Leather body sturdy and no apparent damage to forearms. RS 1-3569 (300-400)
