INTRICATELY INLAID IVORY AND WOOD TRAVELING WRITING BOX. Outside of the angled writing box has inlaid ivory borders with leaf and fruit decoration. Teak wood panels. The front has an angled lid that folds down and a top lid that folds up which reveals a tooled leather writing surface in green and gold. Fitted interior with two inkwells having covers and one extra inkwell with no cover, three lidded boxes, an open compartment and two long drawers. Box has a label to the interior “J. Higginbotham, Madras”. PROVENANCE: From a Downeast, Maine Collection. SIZE: 5’ h x 14” w x 10-1/4” d. CONDITION: Bottom board has cracked and warped, otherwise good. 9-70467 (400-600)
