*CASED GEORGE GIBBS SIDE LOCK DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12ga. Fine English dbl with 28” bbls choked FULL/IMPCYL with tapered smooth concave rib marked with the makers’ name and address, dbl lump with dbl bite and ejectors. Receiver has full side locks and overall has about 85% coverage extremely fine English rose and scroll engraving. The makers’ name is engraved on each lockplate. It has a checkered splinter forearm and teardrop side panel straight stock 14-1/2” over a smooth butt. Fitted with dbl triggers. “Safe” is in gold on the top tang. Accompanied by a very fine brown leather and oak trunk case with single push button latch, red felt lined with a pair of Watson Bros. snap caps and a nickeled square oil bottle. It appears that someone made a repair to the wrist then scraped most of the buttstock finish, which has remained unfinished. Weight is 6 lbs. 14oz. SN C700. CONDITION: As noted, otherwise extremely fine. Bbls retain about 98% strong bright original blue. Receiver and lockplates retain 97-98% strong original colors faded slightly on the fences and edges. Wood is sound with the forearm retaining most of its original finish and the buttstock as previously noted. Case is extremely fine retaining most of its original finish with a couple of small nicks in the lid. 4-48696 JR540 (4,500-7,000)
