18” GLASS EYED SWIVEL NECK FRENCH FASHION DOLL. Head unmarked, shoulder incised “4,” on all-leather gusseted body, cobalt blue eyes, close mouth with hint of smile, appropriately redressed in ivory silk with pink and gold braid trim, antique undergarments, newer pink cloth shoes. Honey colored human hair wig that is slightly large for the size of the head over original cork pate, topped by an elaborate pink silk hat decorated with cotton netting under silk flowers and feathers. CONDITION: Good quality pale bisque with rosy cheeks, highlighted lips, leather body in sturdy condition with possible repainting to tips of finger to simulate tips of nails. Although maker is unknown, this lovely doll is of Bru quality. RS 1-3568 (1,800-2,500)
