CLASSICAL REVIVAL MAHOGANY FIVE-TUBE TALL-CASE CLOCK, WALTHAM CLOCK COMPANY, MASSACHUSETTS. Retailed by A. Stowell Co., Boston, the tubes marked “WALTHAM CLOCK COMPANY”. Early 20th century. The architectural pediment cornice above the conforming case, the arched door with beveled glass panels, flanked by free-standing Ionic columns, opening to the brass floral filigree and silvered dial, beneath the arched moon-phase dial, flanked by ‘strike-and-silent’ and ‘chime-silent’ dial. The musical three-train, eight-day brass movement with five tubes, of the quality of Winterhalder & Hofmeier. With three brass weights and pendulum. The case sides fitted with two beveled glass panels, the uppermost hinged, the whole raised on a plinth with gadrooned feet. SIZE: 8’1/2″ h. x 26-1/2″ w. x 17″ d. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Retaining original surfaces in unrestored condition. The dial showing areas of corrosion.
