ATOCHA TREASURE SILVER BAR TOP. Wonderful artifact from the Spanish Galleon Atocha which sunk off the coast of the Florida Keys in 1622. The treasure was recovered by Mel Fisher and his company Treasure Salvors, Inc. Many of the silver bars that were recovered in the Atocha treasure were subsequently melted down and cast into reproduction silver pieces found in the treasure and sold as less expensive souvenirs of the Atocha treasure. Before Treasure Salvors, Inc. melted the bars, they cut the top section of the bar off, which was stamped with letters and numbers that indicated purity as well as tax stamps and areas of origin. SIZE: 5″ x 14″. PROVENANCE: Our consignor was an original investor with Mel Fisher and Treasure Salvors, Inc. and this was part of his take from the treasure. Accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. 5-69860 (2,000-3,000)
