5¢ PACE BANTAM MINT VENDOR SLOT MACHINE. This particular model had a display front door for Lifesavers mints and a vendor originally on the right side to dispense said Lifesavers. The purpose of the mint vendor was to circumvent gambling laws and give the illusion that a player was actually purchasing mints rather than gambling. The appearance of this machine would certainly be enhanced if the prospective buyer would replace Lifesavers in the front door. A three-quarter sized slot machine, but with the full capacity of a regular full-sized machine. I believe that Pace created these machines so that the owner/operator could quickly move or hide these units when law enforcement officials appeared. Slightly smaller and about one-third lighter, these machines were very reliable and easy to transport. The front door would open, exposing the cash bag. The rear door would slide open, allowing one to repair the mechanism. SIZE: 13″ x 14″ x 19″. CONDITION: In as-found original condition; in need of minor cleaning and minor oiling and greasing to mechanism. 1-8729 JL (900-1,200) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2008 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
