TWO DECORATED BIRCH BARK BASKETS. 1) 12” h x 11” dia. waste basket having a white birch bark interior with a scratched wheat design on base. The outside having scratch decoration with canoe and two Indians pursuing a moose on one side and the other side with a large bust of an Indian chief. Signature cipher on left side. Basket had two decorative handles of which only one is present. CONDITION: Very good. 2) Double lid picnic basket. Lids scratch decorated with turtles and trees. Sides having a similar turtle and tree decoration with crosses. D-shaped wood handle. SIZE:: 9” h without handle 16” w x 9” l. CONDITION: Shows some use and wear, missing wrap at top of basket. PROVENANCE: From a Downeast, Maine Collection. 9-70509 (500-800)
