MONUMENTAL CARVED RENAISSANCE REVIVAL SCREEN ATTRIBUTED TO THOMAS BROOKS. Third quarter 19th century. The richly floral and fruit carved cartouche-form frame fitted with a polychrome needlework depicting Mary Magdalen in adoration of the risen Christ, mounted on a carved tripod base detailed with scrolling leaftips and ‘C’ and ‘S’ scrolled moldings, the legs pierce-carved. SIZE: 79″ h. x 42″ overall w. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: With original needlework panel, retaining strong rich colors. The carved screen and base in very good condition overall, refinished in a chocolate brown tone. 9-93362 (6,000-9,000)
