*LC SMITH DELUXE GRADE SINGLE BARREL TRAP GUN. Cal. 12ga. Wonderful single barrel trap gun with 32” full choke, matted ventilated rib bbl, dbl ivory beads, engraved over the chamber area “MADE TO ORDER BY THE / HUNTER ARMS CO. INC. / FULTON N.Y.” and in gold “L.C. SMITH DE-LUXE TRAP”. Receiver is elaborately engraved with extremely fine detail, raised gold inlays of two ducks landing on a pond with gold grasses on the left side. Right side is equally elaborately engraved with a standing raised gold cock pheasant and a smaller flying pheasant with gold leaves and grasses at bottom of panel. Upper edges of the receiver have raised gold leaves and vines which extends down the opening lever. Each fence is engraved with raised gold oak leaves and an acorn with a rose gold cap and stem. Bottom of receiver has a large cluster of fine detailed roses and leaves with a daisy in the center and another cluster on the trigger bow. Chamber end of the bbl on each side also has a raised cluster of gold flowers and leaves. Balance of the receiver, trigger guard, top tang, opening lever and 3” up the bbl and 3/4” from the muzzle are full coverage engraved with extremely fine foliate and floral arabesque patterns. All of the game scene and floral panels have a very fine stippled background. Foreend iron is matching engraved with leaves and vines in raised gold with the balance matching arabesque patterns. Inside of the foreend iron is identically engraved. Wood is highly figured burly Claro with the forearm having full coverage checkering, a large horn insert on the schnable tip with elaborate carvings at both ends and around the latch. Stock has extensive very fine checkering on the wrist with fleur-de-lis patterns and matching checkered raised side panels. Grip cap smooth horn and the stock is 14-3/8” over a Hawkins pad. Checkered trigger is gold plated. SN S-78298 Deluxe. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, may have been fired but appears new retaining about 98% fine original bbl blue. 98-99% original case colors and about all of the original oil finish on the wood. Stock has a few small bruises and nicks on the right side. Bright shiny bore. 4-48906 JR701 (20,000-35,000)
