VERY RARE EARLY LEATHER CASE FOR WINCHESTER A5 SCOPE SIGHT. Fine early Winchester scope case of the type that would have been used by Capt. Emerson and his contemporaries in the first third of the 20th century to carry their A5 scopes to and from the range. Constructed of heavy brown belting leather, 16-3/8″ overall length that tapers from 3″ at top to 2″ at toe with a sliding, removable cover and four belt keepers on body of case and two on lid. Accompanied by an olive drab color canvas strap with blackened steel buckle and leather tip, also of the type that would have been used by early military shooters. With minimal effort someone could readily find a Winchester A5 scope, however these scope cases are rarely ever encountered and certainly not in fine clean condition. PROVENANCE: Bob Rosenthal Collection. CONDITION: Very fine plus. Overall the body & cover are crisp & clean with only minor soil and light handling & use nicks & scratches with all stitching sound. Strap is an equally fine condition, near new. 4-39205 JR18 (1,000-2,000)
