*1903 SPRINGFIELD RIFLE WITH BAYONET. Bayonet is a modified Krag bayonet with sheath. Cal. 30-06. SN 733703. SEDGELEY post-war rebuild. This gun is a nice example of the 03’s that were retained at Sedgley Factory for rebuild after WWII. Sedgley was a commercial rebuilder for the U.S.M.C. during WWII & built 03’s for the commercial market, after the war, from what they had in stock. CONDITION: Receiver assembly is a black parkerized finish retaining 90% of their added finish. Bbl assembly is unmarked & undated which is typical for post-war Sedgley guns. Rear sight is painted black & collar assembly is black anodized with an “S” stamped at left rear. Collar assembly has some pitting underneath finish. Front band assembly appears to be that of a 1917 Enfield as does middle band assembly. Front hand guard assembly is a high hump WWI type 03 hand guard. Buttstock was of Sedgley variety with a sgl bolt toward front. Buttstock is in very good condition with some slight marring & a couple of somewhat heavy scratches on left side of receiver. Buttplate assembly is black painted as is rear sling swivel. Trigger guard assembly is dark parkerized with floorplate being black painted. Bore has light scattered pitting throughout with strong rifling & should clean up significantly. Front sight assembly is typical later 03 painted black. Bayonet & scabbard are in good condition. 4-57804 BK38 (600-900)
