TWO CASTLEFORD STONEWARE TEAPOTS WITH BLUE DECORATION. First quarter 19th century, Yorkshire, England. First example impressed with Liberty on one side, opposing side impressed with eagle and American shield. Probably made by Sowter & Co with incised “22” beneath base. Second example decorated with oval medallion of classical scenes on pale blue Wedgwood-like ground. Impressed overall with Anthemian leaves and ribbon tied trophies. SIZE: First: 5-1/2″ h. Second: 6″ h. PROVENANCE: From the private collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: First retains original pin for hinge. Small chip near bottom of handle, otherwise very good. Second with shallow chips to spout, otherwise very good. 9-23335 (300-500)
