THREE BRITISH TEAPOTS. 2nd half 18th century. 1) British Pearlware Mochaware teapot with sky blue slip field surrounded by a rouletted black slip-filled checkered band above a turned white band, the matching cover with floral knop, the spout molded with leaftips, the entwined reeded strap handle with flowerhead and leaftip terminals. Ex-Rickard Collection. 2) Caughley or Salopian teapot decorated overall in the Oriental taste in underglaze blue with gilt highlights. Marked beneath the base “S” above an “x”. 3) Unmarked similar example decorated in the Oriental taste with gold gilt highlights. SIZE: 4″ h, 5-1/2″ h and 4-3/4″ h, respectively. PROVENANCE: From the private collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: 1) With chips on rim of lid, chips to spout and with crazing in base. 2) With old shallow chips to lid rim and wear to gilded surfaces, soiled. 3) With chips to spout beneath inpainted gilding.
