STERLING SILVER & GLASS DOUBLE INKWELL. English double inkwell has footed sterling silver tray with center raised handle with yellow glass cabochon in the center of handle top. The tray has a pierced border and stands on four decorated feet. The piece is finished with two cut crystal inkwells with hinged sterling silver lids. The silver is marked with hallmarks “HW” within an oval, a rearing lion, a jaguar head within a shield, a backward “P” within an oval, and a woman’s head facing left within an oval. SIZE: 8-3/4 l x 6-1/8 d x 4-1/4″ t. PROVENANCE: George Klabin Collection. CONDITION: Silver is very good, glass inkwells have chips around the bottom edge where they fit into receptacles on the base, one inkwell has a crack extending from the lip approx. 3/4″ into the body, and collars on both inkwells have been reattached. 5-67510 (500-700)
