BASILIUS BESLER (German, 1561-1629) SPIDER ORCHID BOTANICAL ENGRAVING. Hand colored engraving of three flowers “Orchis Serapias Fecun Da Dodonaei”; “Iris Bulbosa Lutea Mixta”; “Iris Bulbosa Vulaceo Love Mixta”. Back has text with title “Quartus Ordo Fol. 5”. “Celeberrimi Eystetten”. Mounted only with two tape hinges at top. Unknown state. Housed in a modern frame with rose colored matte. SIZE: Actual is 21-3/4” x 17-1/4”. CONDITION: Examined out of frame. Some light foxing, several small splits in margin and bottom with water stain. Generally good. 9-74369 MD (1,500-2,500)
