CHINESE CARVED JADE BIRD BOX AND A PAIR OF SQUARE PIN TRAYS. 19th century. The carved mutton-fat jade trinket box in the form of a nesting grouse, the interior carved with a rice plant. Together with a pair of small footed square trays with notched corners and canted sides, the jade of a pale green marbleized texture. SIZE: Box: 2-1/2″ h. x 4-1/2″ l. Each tray: 2-3/4″ sq. PROVENANCE: Woolworth Collection (F.W. Woolworth Department Store). CONDITION: The bird with small chipped tail feather. One tray with small natural occlusion. 9-94570 (1,400-1,800)
