*SPRINGFIELD 1903A1 RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. SN 1524689. 24” bbl dated “1-38”. This is a nice example of a 1903A1 Government Issue rifle. Gun appears to be all correct with “SPG” inspected type C stock. CONDITION: Receiver retains 92% of original phosphate finish with bolt being phosphate finish also, approx. 80-85% with exception of extractor which has very little finish on outside surface. Bbl is about 95% orig finish with a sight hood on it & what appears to be a bright shiny bore that could use just a little bit of cleaning. Sights are orig for this period with windage knob being flush & the elevation knob being dished which is common. Springfield was known to use any earlier parts that they had in their bins. Trigger guard has approx. 80% of finish with some very light pitting toward front mounting screw. Floorplate has virtually all of its finish with no mars whatsoever. Stock is in very good condition with very minor scarring with exception of one chip which is approx. 1” in front of front stock bolt. It measures approx. 1/2” x 1/2” diameter. “SPG” cartouche & circle “P” and drawing board number are very visible & appear to be orig. Hand guard assembly is correct for this era & in fine condition with only slightest of markings & also has a drawing board number. Buttplate is smooth parkerized finish with very minor pitting on back surface. 4-57808 (2,000-3,000)
