ALICE ESTELLE JAMES (American, 1889-1970) “ISLAND DOCKS-CASCO BAY, ME”. Oil on canvas Maine harbor scene shows a two-mast schooner docked beside another on wharf with buildings. In the foreground a lobsterman repairs his lobster trap. The harbor scene shown under cloud and blue sky. An original tag affixed to the replacement bronzes gilt molded wood frame with title and artist. Also inscribed in pencil on stretcher “Sorrento in Frenchman’s Bay, Maine Painted July, 1945″. Signed lower left. SIZE: 16″ x 20”. CONDITION: Very good with some inpainting. 9-20239 (600-900)
