*SPECTACULAR FACTORY ENGRAVED SMITH & WESSON MODEL 41 PISTOL. Cal. 22 LR. SN 20213. Blued finish, 7-3/8″ bbl, and smooth thumb-rest rosewood stocks. It is beautifully engraved with about 60% coverage, spectacular foliate arabesque patterns with stippled background. It has target front sight, checkered top rib, and fully adjustable rear sight and is factory fitted with an alloy muzzle brake. It is accompanied by a custom lined Smith & Wesson mahogany case with tools, cleaning rod, the orig muzzle end and two weights. Also accompanying is its orig blue & silver metal corner 2-pc blue box. The label on the end of the box indicates it was “Class A” engraved. Also accompanying is a Smith & Wesson Factory letter fully identifying this pistol as having been shipped August 29, 1963 to Schlatter Hardware Co, Fort Wayne, Indiana and that it was custom factory engraved. It goes on to state that the engraving records show that it was engraved by Siegfried Rentzschke “who was trained in Germany and probably the best engraver to work at Smith & Wesson during the 1950’s and early 1960’s”. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, probably unfired. Retains virtually all of its brilliant factory finish to the metal. Grips retain most of their orig finish with a few light surface mars, probably from someone’s ring. Case, box and accessories are fine. 4-53883 JR517 (6,000-10,000)
