*HIGHLY EMBELLISHED SMITH & WESSON PRE-MODEL 27 DA REVOLVER. Cal. 357 Mag. SN S133195. Built on a 5-screw frame with 3-1/2″ bbl, adjustable sights, full matted top frame & rib with custom fitted, beveled edge, smooth, square butt ivory grips with pre-war, deep S&W gold medallions. It has a gold-plated screw. This revolver was commissioned in 1971 by Pennsylvania business magnate Joseph Bojalad and finished in 1972 by the senior staff of one of the premier Italian engraving houses, Bregoli, Inc. It has extremely artistic, very fine gold wire inlay in flowing foliate arabesque patterns over most of the surfaces on the revolver. The cylinder has virtually complete coverage. The bbl is inlaid with oval dots on both sides and the sides of the front sight ramp are also inlaid. The bottom of the ejector rod housing has alternating platinum & gold lines with a platinum 3-petal leaf at the end. The left side of the frame has the date, “1972” and “BREGOLI INC.” below the cylinder latch. The bottom of the trigger guard is inlaid in gold Old English lettering “Joe Bojalad” and the serial number on the butt strap is inlaid in gold around an arabesque pattern. Most of the perimeter of the frame and all of the perimeter of the cylinder has a gold wire border. This is reported to be the most gold wire inlay ever on a Smith & Wesson revolver and is reportedly one of the finest 20th century gold inlaid revolvers of any manufacturer. CONDITION: Appears to be unfired, as new. Retains virtually all of its orig custom finish. Grips are slightly long but fit very well otherwise and have a fine mellow patina. 4-55310 JR745 (10,000-15,000)
