*SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MODEL 1903 RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. SN 388573. 24” bbl dated “11-09”. Fair example of a 1909 transitional 03 Springfield. Gun is very light on finish but is a fine example for the beginning collector. CONDITION: Receiver has 5% finish in protected areas. Bolt has approx. 10% orig finish. Magazine follower has approx. 80% finish. Bbl assembly has approx. 5% finish with some very minute pitting on bottom of bbl. Front bbl band is correctly marked “H” with approx. 10% of finish. Middle bbl band has approx. 40% of orig finish. Trigger guard assembly has approx. 50% finish turning plum as does floorplate assembly. Stock is a sgl bolt with initials “JFW” stamped below rear of receiver ring on left side in wood. Finger grooves have moderate wear. The “JFC” cartouche is light but visible as is circle “P” on bottom. Stock has numerous dents & dings both front & rear but is not so damaged that it is not pleasing & there are two very small cracks directly behind receiver tang. Bore is slightly dark with a little corrosion toward muzzle end, but overall shows very good. Buttplate assembly has approx. 50% finish turned brown. Upper hand guard assembly is of high hump with clips & a sight groove & is in good condition showing a minimal amount of dings. This is a nice orig gun for a beginning collector. 4-57851 BK60 (800-1,500)
