ARCADE BUICK SEDAN. The Arcade toy company was known for their many different types of commercial vehicles. They made several passenger vehicles such as the Buick and Chevy cars. Outstanding in nature, and a perfect copy of the real thing, these were most desirable by children as well as collectors of cast iron automotive toys. This example of the classic 1930s sedan has iron spoked hubs covered by balloon rubber tires. The finish black chassis, peacock body with enameled black roof and windows is further enhanced by a silver grill emblazoned “Buick”. Accompanied by humorous miniature tin lithographed sign stating “Men at Work, Except while Buicks are Passing”. SIZE: 8-1/4″ l. PROVENANCE: From the collection of the late Larry Seiber of San Jose, CA. CONDITION: Very fine to near mint. Sign is generally good to very good with shallow bend. 1-9120 (3,500-4,500) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2009 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
