VICTORIAN CARVED ROSEWOOD SETTEE. Third quarter 19th century. The sofa with two chair backs joined by an incurved upholstered arm rest. Each molded rail with rose-carved cresting terminating in ‘C’-scrolled volutes centering the tufted upholstered backs, the shaped arms with serpentine foliate carved supports centering the overupholstered rectangular seat with serpentine applied carved scrolling and central cartouche, raised on molded frontal cabriole legs. SIZE: 39″ h. x 64″ l. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Professionally refinished and restored, rear legs strengthened, minor veneer losses to seat rail.
