*WINCHESTER MODEL 52 SPORTER DELUXE RIFLE. Cal. 22LR. Early post war sporter with 24” tapered round bbl, ramp front sight with hood, Lyman 57F receiver sight with a Griffin & Howe double lever side mount containing a Leupold Vari-X III 1.5-5X scope. Mounted in a checkered 1-pc stock with black foreend tip, capped pistol grip with cheekpiece and a Niedner style serrated buttplate with trap containing the sight blade for the Lyman receiver sight, including the aperture disc. The 1-pc trigger guard and floorplate is marked “SPORTING” and it has an original 10-round magazine with patent date. Stock is fitted with deluxe swivels containing what appears to be an original type Winchester sling. Accompanied by a letter from Cook, Newton & Smith New Haven, CT dated 4/12/40 discussing the merits of this “New rifle”. Also accompanies is an original Model 52 color tri-fold brochure advertising this rifle. The picture on this brochure shows an identical sling to the one on this rifle. SN 54133. CONDITION: Very fine. Metal retains 95-96% strong original blue with a couple spots of rust on the bbl and minor edge wear elsewhere. Stock is sound and retains most of its original finish from the pistol grip forward and a fine custom finish on the buttstock. There is a large scratch on right side of stock and a sliver missing from the left side of receiver channel. Brilliant shiny bore, fine optics. 4-48875 JR656 (1,000-1,500)
