RARE GERMAN MG34 TROMMELHALTER (DRUM HOLDER)

RARE GERMAN MG34 TROMMELHALTER (DRUM HOLDER). Special adaptive feed cover for the MG34 to allow the use of a 75-round double-drum magazine. This drum arrangement was refered to as Patronentrommel 34. When using the drum, the belt feed cover and the cartridge feed block were removed from the gun and a special receiver cover called the Deckel mit Trommelhalter was installed. This set up was common on AA and Aircraft mounted weapons but was phased out around 1939-40 when the more efficient 50 round magazine became standard. All matching serial numbers “3448”. CONDITION: Very Good to Fine. Body of unit retains 75% of its original military finish with some wear on the feed gate. All spring-loaded parts are functional. Manufacturer’s markings have been partially obliterated. 4-35791 WD12 (2,000-2,500)
