WESSON FIREARMS DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12ga. Rare Wesson hammer shotgun with 27” damascus bbls engraved in large letters on top rib “Wesson Firearms Co. Springfield, Mass.”. Box lock with lifter top opening lever. Bbls have dolls head extension and receiver and hammers are lightly engraved with about 40% coverage foliate arabesque pattern engraving. Wood is nicely checkered walnut with two wood panels around the front receiver metal and a small splinter forearm with black tip at the front end. SN 151. CONDITION: Bbls retain a dark brown patina with faint pattern showing through. Receiver retains traces of case colors under a coating of old crud with the balance of the metal being a gray/brown patina. Wrist has been repaired and the checkering re-cut with all the wood retaining its new finish. Good bores with moderate to heavy pitting. 4-48337 JR440 (Anderson Collection) (1,250-2,250)
