PAIR OF AMERICAN WHALE OIL LAMPS. Probably Sandwich Glass Works. Lamps are white milk glass with pewter collars and burners. Fonts are twelve sided and the base is hexagonal. Lamps date to approximately 1850. SIZE: 8-1/4″ t x 3-3/8″ across base. PROVENANCE: From the Private Collection of Dorothy Lee Jones. CONDITION: Lamp A has an area of damage to the font that appears to be a combination of an annealing crack and actual damage. Base exhibits typical annealing fissures. Lamp B; the font is undamaged. Base appears to have a 2″ crack near the foot as well as some typical annealing fissures. 5-61748-1 (500-800)
