OUTSTANDING LARGE PAINTED METAL AND GLASS MODEL OF THE U.S. CAPITOL BUILDING. Four sided building with identical sides has a front with a plaque above the door “Capitol of U.S.A.”. Each side has a steep stairway with four round columns supporting a small peaked roof gable with dental and other molding. The stairs lead to a landing that has six round columns in front of the building façade which has a tall metal gilt glass door with half round skylights above flanked by two similar styled windows. Flanking the stairs at the bottom of the building are eight cathedral shaped windows. The roof is open with diamond shape mesh work having decorative metal edging leading to a four story dome top with bottom two graduated sections having frosted glass inserts and top with mesh and metal work. The dome parts lead to the finial which supports a large American flag. On all four sides, the doors open to reveal a removable metal floor. Outside corners of the building are fitted with removable decorative metal fencing and there are 17” h lamp posts which surround the building but are separate fixtures. At one time, they were wired as well as the interior of the building. All four peaks above the doorways fly U.S. flags. We believe that this was made around 1912-1913 through family history. It was found in a barn in Pennsylvania where we believe it was put away shortly after its making. The building is made in three major sections. All flags are removable as well as the street lights. It sits on a newly made base which supports with street light and the fence. SIZE: 30” sq x 76” h. CONDITION: Building shows some paint chipping and wear but in generally good condition with piece intact. 9-72040 (10,000-15,000)
