*VERY SCARCE WINCHESTER MODEL 56 BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. SN 4541. Made only during the years 1926-1929 with about 8,000 having been made. This little rifle has a 22” rnd bbl, silver bead Jack front sight and a series 40 adjustable rear sight. The receiver is factory drilled and tapped for receiver sight. The wood is straight grain American walnut, 1- pc stock with schnable tip forearm and semi-pistol grip with checkered steel buttplate. It has a sheet metal trigger guard/floorplate, which contains a 5-shot magazine. The striker cocks on closing and rotating the striker knob manually sets the safety. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl and receiver retain 95-97% strong bright original blue with most of the losses on the receiver edge and some minor flaking. Trigger guard retains about 90% original blue. Wood is sound with a series of small creases on the forestock and minor handling and use marks elsewhere and retains most of its bright original varnish.
