JAMES EMERY (American, 1819-1899) SURVIVING THE SHIPWRECK. Oil on canvas coastal scene shows a large sailing ship with remnants crashed against the coastal rocks with a small mast section having three survivors riding waves coming to shore. The background with a pointed roofed lighthouse with connected building and city beyond. The scene is all shown under an outstanding sunset sky in colors of pink and blue. Signed lower left “J E”. Housed in a modern gilt molded wood frame. SIZE: 18″ x 24″. CONDITION: Inpainting, very good. 9-99547 (1,500-2,500)
