TWO CONTINENTAL NEEDLEWORK & SILK PAINTED PICTURES. Mid-19th century. 1) Allegorical scene of a mother and child beneath a shade tree attended to by an angel. 2) Showing a maiden at a footbridge by a stream transporting a bucket on her head. SIZE: Oval; sight is 14″ x 17″. Rectangular; sight is 16-1/4″ x 12″. PROVENANCE: From the private collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: 1) Retains vibrant colors, stitching intact but with areas of light deterioration to proper right side of silk in sky. 2) Very good overall with vibrant color. Mounted under original Eglomise panel, gilt frame repainted and with damage to lower corner. 9-23201 (800-1,200)
