*ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL MODEL 1903 RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. SN 131962. 24” bbl dated “4-09”. This is a nice example of a transitional Rock Island 03 being as it has a sgl bolt stock with a flat top hand guard. CONDITION: Receiver is approx. 75% condition with some bright spots & mottling. Case hardening on magazine cutoff is thin but noticeable. Bolt has approx. 90% orig finish with bulk of wear on cocking piece. Bbl has 85% of finish but sight sleeve is pretty well bright. Front bbl band & stacking swivel have 90-95% orig finish with stacking swivel beginning to plum. Center bbl band has 90% orig finish beginning to plum. Rear sight sleeve has about 80-85% thinning blue going to plum & rear sight assembly itself has about 60% finish left. Buttplate assembly is turned brown with approx. 75% finish remaining Sgl bolt stock has a very crisp “1909” cartouche & is in excellent condition with minor dings, primarily up around very sharp finger grooves. Flat top hand guard is in very good condition with several small gouges that do not detract from its presence. Bore is dark with frosting but has very strong rifling. This is a very nice example of a transitional Rock Island 03 that has not been molested in any way. 4-57825 BK64 (2,200-4,000)
