*ROCK ISLAND 1903.

*ROCK ISLAND 1903. Cal 30-06. SN 141818. 24” bbl. Dated 5-09. This rifle is a very nice example of a transitional Rock Island 03 as it is of 1909 manufacture and has the single bolt stock with the flat top hand guard with no groove. Rifle is also equipped with a dry but reasonably nice DEW marked Lawrence sling, which although dry is in good condition. CONDITION: Receiver is in very nice condition retaining approximately 80% of the orig mottled finish with some dried grease on the sides. Bolt assembly retains approximately 75-80% finish with the lock being from cocking the gun. Bbl retains 90% of its finish with sub inspector marks on the bottom as follows, the is a “H” on the bottom the bbl band, directly behind the bbl band is the letter “R” with 10 with a “P” underneath. Rear sight sleeve has approximately 80% of finish with some dried grease as well as does the rear sight assembly which is correct with the proper deep dished knobs. Magazine cut off appears to have some case colors but there is a significant amount of dried grease. Trigger guard assembly has approximately 60% of finish with minor scuffing and primary blue loss on the bottom of the trigger guard itself. Floorplate assembly has approximately 90% of finish with brown spotting that should clean. Buttstock assembly is in very good condition with sharp finger grooves and a very crisp cartouche with light scattered marring throughout but nothing significant. Flat top hand guard assembly is in excellent condition with the exception of one small 3/8 x 1/4” nick approximately 1” behind middle band on the right side. Bore is somewhat dark and dirty but should clean to be at least very good. Overall a very pleasing 1909 Rock Island. 4-57830 BK67 (2,500-4,000)
