PAIR OF WHALE OIL LAMPS. Lamps have a freeblown font in white milk glass and a blown stem in clear with a pressed base. Lamps are complete with what appears to be original pewter collars and burners. Circa 1825-1835. Possibly Pittsburgh in origin. SIZE: 9-3/4″ t x 3-1/4″ across base. PROVENANCE: From the Private Collection of Dorothy Lee Jones. CONDITION: Lamp A is in overall very good condition, however there are several chips and flakes at the corners of the base. Stem and font are undamaged. Lamp B is in overall very good condition, again with several chips and flakes confined to the base. Font and stem are undamaged. 5-61748 (1,200-1,400)
