SMITH & WESSON #3 RUSSIAN 3RD MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 44 RF. Blued finish, 6-1/2” keyhole ribbed bbl, integral front sight, commercial “Russian Model” address on the rib, smooth 2-pc matching numbered grips with a lanyard loop in the butt. Butt marked with the initial “SH” in a diamond and a tiny letter “P” inspector stamp. There is the date 1874 stamped at the rear of the frame on the left side. This may have been one of the 5,000 made for the Turkish contract. SN 42140. CONDITION: Good, all matching including the grips, the bbl, latch and cylinder have the frame assembly number. Frame retains 30-40% thin original blue and has some rather deep pitting scattered about. Bbl has blue in the sheltered areas with the balance a medium gray with light surface rust; some pitting at the muzzle. Grips are sound with a fine smooth finish. Cylinder has traces of blue in the flutes with some deep pitting. Bore is bright and shiny with scattered pitting, mechanics are fine. 4-47928 JR67 (Anderson Collection) (1,000-2,000)
