RARE AND DESIRABLE “LU-KAT” GAMBLING TRADE STIMULATOR / GUMBALL DISPENSER. Bordering on whimsical / appealing, this feline would dispense a paper gambling ticket through her mouth when a dime was inserted in her right ear and her tail pulled. The gumball would be dispensed from her chest cavity by pushing plunger on her right side and the gumball would drop out between her two front paws. An oval metal tag indicating Lu-Kat “The Lucky Cat Pat. Pending” is affixed to her forehead and she has vibrant yellow glass eyes. Enameled in a golden mustard with black stripes, this paint is of the period but close examination indicates earlier paint schemes were present. Most likely the owner / operator enhanced and refreshed the machine’s appearance by a new coat of paint during its orig operational time period. She is affixed to the typical mahogany base (appears to have been restored) with locking cash drawer. The unique mechanism is intact and in working order with remnants of orig paper gambling tickets indicating Lu-Kat Novelty Co. manufactured by K. & R. Co. San Francisco. SIZE: 14″ l. x 6-1/2″ w. x 10″ h. CONDITION: Overall condition is very good plus, lacking marquee and tin gumball flap on cat’s rear quarters. 1-8732 JL (8,000-12,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2008 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
