**1917A1 WATER COOLED MACHINE GUN ON DLO REGISTERED SIDEPLATE (FULLY TRANSFERABLE). SN 155753. Cal. 30-06. 24″ bbl. 1917A1 GI parts on DLO registered sideplate. Accessories include: one spare bbl; 1917A1 tripod; cloth belt loader in box; four wooden ammo boxes; two types of water cans; metal ammo box holder for tripod; canvas gun cover; G.I cleaning rod in case; bbl jacket clamp-on carrying handle; steam condensing hose; spare (beer can) flash hider; oil can; ten new condition 250 rnd cloth belts plus three more belts loaded with 30-06 ammunition. Firing mechanism functions smoothly when cycled by hand and gun appears fully functional. Brass trunion on DLO reg. sideplate appears unfired with no wear. PROVENANCE: Alan Brown Collection. CONDITION: Overall condition is excellent, gray Parkerized finish. Cork, chain and plugs on bbl jacket are in excellent, as in just issued condition. Bore is excellent shiny and bright out to 4″ of muzzle and then is dark (maybe just grease in the grooves). Flash hider does not appear to have been ever used, but there is a neck at the lip of the muzzle, underneath the Parkerized finish. Bolt is 30-06 type, top cover is set up for 30-06 use, wooden grips in excellent condition with slight tiny handling mark on left side. Inner parts clean, excellent and crisp. Brass trunnion appears unused. Tripod has brass head and orig brass nameplate still affixed with “Lamson Mfg dated 1942”. Leather strap to hold legs together, present, serviceable and supple. Cloth belt loading machine in excellent condition, of the all steel type with metal handle. One water can is in very good condition and one in very fine condition. Wooden ammo boxes in very good to very fine condition. Rear sight in deep blue, not gray Parkerized finish, with rotating peep center configuration. This is a complete and extremely fine condition example of the 1917A1, as it would have been found in WWII issue configuration. 4-39385 (12,500-17,500)
