MAGNIFICENT CENTENNIAL HANDMADE HEPPLEWHITE BURL WOOD TAMBOUR SECRETARY. This high style secretary is a stunning beauty. With spectacular veneered light wood burl contrasted by bands of various dark wood burl. Secretary is in two parts, the top with two glass mullion doors, which open to reveal shelves, the top of the glass doors with handsome reverse painted panels. The lower section of the top having two tambour doors which slide open to reveal a pigeon holed and drawer compartments. Between the two tambour compartments is one rectangular burl paneled door that opens to reveal similar compartments. The base with a drop down board writing surface above three full-length drawers. This secretary is made up of old wood and unless scrutinized very carefully, appears from almost all aspects to be a period secretary. In fact, it is definitely a cabinet piece probably made during the late 19th century. Hand constructed of outstanding quality. SIZE: 38″ w x 19 1/2″ d x 31 1/2″ h to writing surface, 7′ including finials. CONDITION: The secretary appears to be in excellent condition with a few minor handling blemishes, some flaking to eglomise panels. 9-92333 (14,000-18,000)
