LARGE OIL ON CANVAS “A DAY OF SHOWERS” BY HENRY HAMMOND GALLISON (1850-1910). Impressionistic painting shows a river winding through a valley with hills beyond and gray clouds with showers evident. Signed lower right “HH GALLISON”. Housed in a decorative gold frame. Exhibit label from the “Copley Society Exhibition, Boston MA 1902” is affixed to the frame. “Frost & Adams, Boston” label on stretcher. Bottom edge of canvas extends 2″ onto stretcher and also shows signature. SIZE: 33″ h x 45 1/2″ w. CONDITION: Painting has thick impasto, which shows craqulure, which is slightly buckling. 9-90355 (1,000-3,000)
