**HIGH GLOSS FINISH COLT THOMPSON MODEL 1921 MACHINE GUN WITH ORIG PATENT “L” DRUM (CURIO & RELIC).SN 9026. Cal. .45 ACP. 12-1/2″ bbl with compensator. High gloss refinished Colt Model 1921 with unmarked Cutts compensator and Thompson bullet logo forward of rear sight base. One orig “NEW YORK, N.Y.” 1920s patent date “L” drum is included. SNs match between upper and lower assemblies, 1921 parts verified inside of receiver, anchor proof mark present at front of buttstock and has Lyman marked rear sight. This is a National Firearms Act item and requires BATF approval prior to transfer. This weapon is fully transferable on an ATF form 3 or form 4 as Curio & Relic eligible. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish extremely fine, high glossy sheen refinish over some barely discernible pinprick pitting underneath refinish with clear markings to include inspection cartouche on both sides of receiver. Cutts compensator exhibits a more dull blue finish. Bolt has been polished to a high level of shine with some discernible amount of pitting. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is very fine with well defined rifling and bright with some slight pitting in the grooves. Wood is very attractive, consistent deep brown color with some scattered handling marks. Drum is covered in a matte black enameled paint with some scuffs but otherwise very nice. Black colored rotor. Colt Thompson machine guns exhibit the highest levels of quality fit and finish of any Thompson ever produced. They are the most sought after of the various models. This specimen albeit refinished, is still quite attractive. Consignor states, that this particular gun was recovered out of a law enforcement agency’s building just prior to the building’s demolition where it had been concealed in rafters. This gun was only saved from destruction due to last minute happenstance of someone taking a final look at the premises.
