UNUSUAL OVER-UNDER FLINTLOCK PISTOL BY SMITH OF LONDON.

NSN. Cal. 50 cal. Integral 4″ bbl/ breech/ breech iron group, with platinum touch holes and gold band at breech end, is engraved “SMITH LONDON” on top flat. Bottom flat is marked “7K-S 1010”. Locks with very unusual external mainsprings which double as frizzen springs connect to small reinforced cocks with swivels. Locks also feature sliding safeties, waterproof pans, and bridled frizzens. Locks are engraved with feather borders, and some scroll. Steel trigger guard has shield and floral engraving on bow. Well marbled European walnut stock with checkered bag grip, has steel cap with screw-in loading rod. CONDITION: Good. Metal parts retain essentially all of a fine of the period English refinish.
