*GORGEOUS L.C. SMITH GRADE 5E 12 GAUGE SHOTGUN WITH CASE.SN 204686. Cal. 12 ga. Beautiful high grade Smith marked “5E” on the frame under the left lockplate. It has 30″ fluid steel bbls with full length matted, tapered rib and brass front bead. Top of rib marked “MADE TO ORDER BY THE HUNTER ARMS CO. FULTON, N.Y.”. Breech end of rib is light engraved with gold bar. 2-3/4″ chamber. Hunter 1 single selective trigger, auto ejectors, auto safety. Straight grip buttstock is checkered in 2-point pattern through the wrist and is of nicely figured marble cake walnut with 13-7/8″ LOP from rear position single trigger. There is a 1/4″ black spacer in front of the buttplate. Splinter forearm with banjo roll type release which is scroll engraved and ebony tipped is near full coverage checkered. Action is engraved in beautiful Grade 5 pattern with large oval game scene with two setters on left, two pointers on right, all surrounded by floral scroll engraving with front of lock plates engraved “L.C. SMITH” and flowing wave banner. Bottom of action engraved in floral and scroll pattern around trigger plate and floral wave pattern and scroll on bbl lug. Top of action with well cut floral busts. Beaded fences, top lever and top tang are floral and scroll engraved, top tang with gold “S” in front of safety. Breech ends of bbl with 1″ scroll wedges and muzzles with engraved border. Housed in a modern full canvas yellow case with maroon interior and trade label glued inside with snap caps, oil bottle, cleaning cloths, and jags. All visible SN match. WEIGHT: 7 lbs 11 oz. Bore diameter: left -.731 , right –.730 Bore restrictions: left –.033 (full) right –.019 (mod). Wall thickness: left –.023 , right –.023 . Drop at heel: 2-1/2″, drop at comb: 1-3/8″. CONDITION: Very fine as expertly restored. Bbls retain nearly all of a near perfectly restored rust blue finish. Buttstock and forearm are orig to gun and retain nearly all of their expertly restored finish. They appear sound, and checkering is crisp. Action retains more than 95% ofit’s beautifully restored case color. Trigger guard retains about half of it’s restored blued finish. Hinge is a touch loose with forearm off, though action is tight when assembled. Bbls are on face. Case is very fine with minor scuffs and pen “5E” on front left and “E” on strap.
